Races
The race season is composed of four NorCal league races and one championship race. Races start around the last weekend in February and finish in May. Races include Friday pre-rides and Saturday racing and locations are between one to three hours away.
Thursday
Get your bike race ready with a good cleaning, tire pressure check, and chain lube. Pack all your gear. Helmet, gloves, shoes, socks, pre-ride cycling clothing, race day kit, arm and leg warmers, cycling jacket, sun glasses, water bottles, nutrition, street clothes, mess kit, and don't forget your number plate.

Friday
Students leaving school early to attend the Friday pre-ride are allowed an excused absence. Our head coaches will contact the school before each race to provide them with a list of excused student athletes. The coach led pre-ride on Friday starts at 3:30 and gives athletes a chance to preview the race course. Only student athletes and coaches can pre-ride and they must ride with a race plate. Following the pre-ride, parents and athletes will check in to their hotel or campground to clean up and then attend an optional team dinner. We often provide recommendations for accommodations and may plan team dinners, whether they are potlucks at a camping venue or dinner at a local restaurant. This gives the student athletes a chance to decompress after the pre-ride with their teammates while the parents gather to talk parent talk.
Saturday / Race Day
All athletes are expected to arrive at the race venue at 7am regardless of their start time and stay until podiums are finished. Remember, we’re a team. When we’re not racing, we're cheering on our teammates. The team pit zone/kitchen is just getting set up at 7am so if your athlete races early please be sure they eat two hours before their race and if necessary before arriving to the pit zone. We provide breakfast, snacks and lunch to the athletes and their parents.
As we get closer to each race, the NorCal league will release a flyer with lots of great information including the race course, elevations, race times, parking information and more.
