Practices
The requirement is for student athletes to participate in at least two regular practices a week. Our training rides take place on singletrack trails and fire roads right in our own backyard. Working with our coaches, athletes focus on strength, technical skills, and endurance while also learning about the importance of trail etiquette, good nutrition and proper race day preparation. Unfortunately, there's no substitute for good old fashioned hard work and physical effort. It's what gets us up the hills and onto the podium.
After our 6 Preseason events in October and November, our season officially starts on December 1st when we host one trail ride every Sunday at 9am, meeting at the Saunders Ave parking lot at Archie Williams and one spin class every Wednesday at 4pm at Fitlab in Fairfax. Training rides last from 90 minutes to 180 minutes depending on the athlete’s ride group and fitness level. It's important to note that during training rides athletes can't simply turn off and go home. Coaches are responsible for their safety and must be aware of any changes to their group of student athletes. Once we have more light in the afternoon during the last week of February, we will add training rides on Tuesday and Thursday at 4:15pm also leaving from Saunders.
